The court ordered a First Information Report and probe into seven members of Mohammad Akhlaq’s family. Akhlaq was lynched to death on Sept. 28, 2015, for allegedly killing a cow and eating its meat.
A court in Surajpur in Noida on Thursday directed the registration of an FIR against seven members of Mohammad Akhlaq’s kin for alleged cow slaughter based on a petition filed by Akhlaq’s neighbour.
50-year-old Akhlaq was lynched by a mob in the Dadri district of Uttar Pradesh in September 2015 for alleged possession and consumption of beef.
The family members against whom the FIR has been filed include Akhlaq’s mother, brother, wife, and his children.
Incidentally, the petitioner’s father is an accused in the lynching case of Mohammad Akhlaq
