NTR’s Aadi & Nithiin’s Dil – Two movies with the same storyline | An Opinion by Abhiram

Just a small thought can become the origin of a great story. That is called a story idea. Just like how the likes and dislikes of two people can match, the thoughts of two people can also be very similar. So, the stories that came out of two similar thoughts will also be the same. But, it doesn’t mean that this story is copied and it doesn’t necessarily mean that if one movie becomes a flop then the film which came with the same story will also become a flop. The outcome of the film depends on so many factors including the story, concept, screenplay. Today, I am going to talk about two films with similar storylines but came out from a single director. The films are ‘Aadi’ and ‘Dil’ and the director is VV Vinayak.
Aadi movie got released in March 2002 whereas ‘Dil’ hit the theatres in April 2003. The stories in both the movies will be very similar and even the screenplay is also the same.
In Aadi movie, NTR appears as a college student in the entire first half. The story revolves around his love story with the heroine and heroine’s father rejecting him, a fight, and climax. Even Dil also has the same storyline and the same conflicts. The love tracks in these two movies are kind of similar. Both the heroes use the reverse approach to woo the heroines.
In Dil, the director focused more on the love element and showcases that Hero faces so many problems only for his love. But, Adi has a Rayalaseema faction backdrop.  Also, the heroine’s father kills the hero’s parents. So, more than the love element, the director took the story in the revenge direction.
Though both the films have similar storylines, Nithiin got a lover boy image whereas NTR got a mass image with their film. However, both movies became super hits. Despite having the same stories and different heroes, the director is the same for both films. If both films have the same hero, then one of them might become a disaster at the box office. But having two different heroes became a plus point for these films.
There are so many films like these two. But as these movies came out from the same director and both films got released with a difference of just one year, I picked these two films for the analysis.

An Opinion by Abhiram – other movies

Writer’s Note:

Most of us like to get involved in the story and connect with the emotions of the lead actors while watching a film. So, here I am to share my opinions on some of my favorite films. I haven’t done any film appreciation courses and I am just doing this out of passion.
