Why Mahesh’s Khaleja movie ended up as a disaster? | An opinion by Abhiram

Good movies don’t always need to become hits and in the same way, not all hit films are good. Be it a hit movie or a flop movie, if we understand more about the story, screenplay, and writing, then we can analyze a film. So now, I am going to point out the elements that I think are the reasons behind the failure of Khaleja movie at the box office.

Analysis:

Mahesh Babu has never tried a comedy angle before this film. Trivikram’s dialogues worked out well. Mani Sharma’s music is also good. But, most of us still don’t know the reason why the movie became a flop. Movie lovers often claim that it is one of the underrated movies in Tollywood.

Coming to the story, it is about a small village named Pali in which the villagers start dying for mysterious reasons. How an ordinary Taxi Driver rescued the villagers is the story of the movie. The film starts in that village with Rao Ramesh assuring that someone will definitely come to save the village and later Siddha goes in search of that person. Then, the story goes in an entirely different direction. Then comes the interval with the caption “Mandalam Mugisindi”. When the audience was eagerly waiting for the second half, they get disappointed again. Villain Prakash Raj’s character only appears in the last 30 minutes of the film and the audience might have forgotten his character by then.

It’s not my opinion that the story should not be like that. But, the writer should also think if the story is engaging or not. For example, if we see the hero introduction scene, it is a desert and one can’t even find a single drop of water. So, in general, people will kill each other for a water bottle in that place. But the intensity is missing in that scene. Hero beating up some guys just for a water bottle and his characterization is extremely different. It took some time for the audience to understand this behavior.

Also at the ending of the film, without facing any troubles from the hero, Archana’s character reveals everything about the villains. Prakash Raj immediately goes to Pali. So, the climax somewhat felt rushed and also disturbed the flow of the film. It’s better not to talk much about the heroine’s character as it is extremely confusing. Showcasing the concept of ‘Service to Man is Service to God’ is difficult.

Director wanted to use comedy to explain it in an engaging way. But the director might have got confused in terms of comedy dosage. There is no connection between the title of the film and the story. Everyone expected a movie like ‘Athadu’ as the combination of Mahesh Babu and Trivikram is going to repeat. But, instead of an action film, the audience got a comedy film which crushed the expectations and disappointed the fans. Though a movie is great, if the audience doesn’t like it, then there is definitely a flaw in that film. But it doesn’t always mean that it is not a worth watching movie.

To say my opinion on this film, I can say Trivikram’s dialogue in ‘Nuvve Nuvve’ movie, ” Part lu part lu ga chuste idee bagunde”.

Writer’s Note:

Most of us like to get involved in the story and connect with the emotions of the lead actors while watching a film. So, here I am to share my opinions on some of my favorite films. I haven’t done any film appreciation courses and I am just doing this out of passion.
